British Prime Minister Liz Truss is fighting to remain in office, just 42 days after being appointed as Boris Johnson’s successor.

Market turbulence, the sacking of Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng, policy U-turns, a worsening cost of living crisis and a perceived loss of authority for Truss have generated an air of instability at No 10 with calls for a fresh leadership contest or general election.

Latest reports suggest that even Conservative Party members who swept her to power in the 2022 Tory party leadership election are now turning against her, along with many voters in her own constituency.
