An Inverness-based charity is hosting a march calling for women to Reclaim the Night.

Rape and Sexual Abuse Service Highland (RASASH) is hosting the event on November 25, which starts at 7pm at Falcon Square in Inverness, ending at Ness Walk.

Everyone is welcome to join the march, which will mark the start of ‘16 days of activism against gender-based violence’ campaign, managed by United Nations Women.

The international campaign calls for the elimination of violence against women and girls globally.

The name ‘Reclaim the Night’ calls for a woman’s right to walk without fear at night, to be reclaimed.

RASASH highlights how many people wrongly assume that sexual violence is not a problem in the Highlands.

A spokeswoman for the charity said: “We have been working with survivors to raise awareness in the Highlands of gender-based violence, including rape, intimate partner abuse, sexual abuse, domestic abuse, harassment and stalking.”

RASASH works in partnership with the Rape Crisis Network, and offers support to anyone aged 13 and over, and who has suffered any type of sexual or gender–based violence. RASASH can be contacted for support on 03330 066909 or emailed on support@rasash.org.uk
