Inverness born former Rangers keeper Mike Rae has hailed the club's Europa League final tonight as a “massive, massive game”.

The Glasgow side take on Eintracht Frankfurt in Seville for a once in a lifetime clash to try and secure their first European title since 1972.

They won the European Cup Winners Cup in '72 beating Dynamo Moscow 3-2.

The club also reached the Europa League final in 2008, losing 2-0 to Zenit St Petersburg.

Mike, who now works with High-life Highland, said even making tonight's final play off was a major achievement for the club.

He played for Rangers from 1994 to 2001 having signed straight out of school.

He said: “It's been a long time coming, obviously with what happened in 2008.

“It's been a long time since they've been at this stage in a European tournament so for the fans and the club it's huge.

“And even just for the finances with the chances of Champions League next year – it's a massive, massive game tonight.”

He added: “I really don't have a prediction. I think it could go either way.

“The way that Frankfurt play and the way that Rangers play are very similar. I think it will be tight, very tight.”

Either way Mike will be glued to his screen tonight to see how the Gers fare in the Spanish sun.

He said: “My son is a big Rangers fan so I'll be watching it with him tonight. He's just turned 16 so he's a massive Rangers fan.

“We will either watch it at home or watch it with the grandparents.

“We'll make a night of it.”

Rangers fans have been flocking to Seville from across the globe for the game, soaking up the sun and the beer in the feel-good atmosphere.

Mike said: “I've seen a lot on social media and had videos sent back. It looks like it's a really good atmosphere.”
