Rain over the last 24 hours has led to flooding in an Inverness road.

A concerned reader sent us images early this morning in a bid to highlight surface water in Island Bank Road.

He said it was covering both lanes.

"I just want to highlight this so people know that it's here if they plan to take this route," he said. "Maybe by doing so, they will choose an alternative route."

Meanwhile, Inverness South councillor Duncan Macpherson shared footage of rainfall in Cradlehall last night on social media, adding: "Frightening to see how quickly the water level rose so dangerously!"

More rain is forecast for the Inverness area today.
