RAIL passengers face disruption all day on the Inverness-Aberdeen line after flood waters washed away part of the track.

The damage was caused to a section of the route between Forres and Elgin.

ScotRail has warned passengers that trains are only running between Inverness and Forres, where the services will terminate. The eastern end of the route will see trains run between Aberdeen and Elgin, where the services will terminate.

Rail tickets will be accepted on Stagecoach bus services running between Inverness and Aberdeen, ScotRail said.

The disruption comes after rail engineers confirmed that a landslip on the Kyle Line west of Dingwall has now been cleared.

However, although services can now resume on that route passengers have been warned to expect possible delays between Garve and Inverness "because of an emergency speed restriction in place between these stations".
