AN Inverness road will be closed to traffic for a single night to allow Network Rail maintenance work to be carried out on a rail bridge, Highland Council has announced.

Culloden Road, which links Balloch to Culloden Moor, will be closed at the rail bridge near Viewhill from 10pm on Thursday, February 13 until 6am on Friday, February 14.

"The closure is required in the interest of public safety to enable contractors, working on behalf of Network Rail, to carry out maintenance to the bridge that crosses the public road," said a spokeswoman for Highland Council.

The news follows the announcement of another unrelated closure on part of the B852 south of Dores.
