THE waiting room in Raigmore Hospital's emergency department has reopened following earlier localised flooding, NHS Highland has confirmed.

A temporary waiting area had to be set up this morning after torrential rain last night caused disruption at the site.

There were also many issues in the wider area - from rail cancellations to landslides - after a month's worth of rain fell in just two to three hours.

Although the waiting room area and ambulance entrance was affected, the emergency department remained fully operational throughout.

Confirming the full reopening of the site this lunchtime, a spokeswoman for NHS Highland said: "The waiting area has been fixed and it, along with the ambulance entrance, is now open.

"Thanks to all for their cooperation."
