A FUNDING drive for a young Inverness lad with a rare genetic condition saw radio host Tam Cowan combine his sharp wit with a kind heart.
Sam Douglas suffers from cerebral palsy, global development delays and epilepsy and so his aunt, STV’s Nicola McCalley, has been running a determined campaign to fundraise for treatment not available on the NHS.
The hugely successful event at the Kingsmills Hotel on Monday raised at least £15,000 by auctioning a number of items and running a raffle.
The hottest items included a signed shirt by late Scotland keeper Andy Goram (£3200), a day out watching Mr Cowan’s radio show in production (£2200) and a cashmere bundle (£2000).
Sam’s parents, Steph and Kris, expressed their thanks to those who attended and bid generously as all the money will go to therapies that, though they will not cure Sam, will hopefully help him become more independent in the future.
