RACING champion Dave Newsham will open the Inverness Boat Festival tomorrow.

The Inverness-born Renault Clio Cup winner will don his racing gear for the charity event and sign posters.

It starts at 10.15am at Inverness Marina with fun activities everyone can enjoy and entry is free.

The day has a pirate theme, so not only is there a children’s fancy dress competition, everyone is encouraged to turn up in costume.

Highlights include lifeboat and helicopter rescue displays by the RNLI and Maritime and Coastguard Agency (depending on weather conditions).

Learn more about the emergency services at the displays by Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service, Northern Constabulary and the Scottish Ambulance Service. The Road Safety Camera Partnership will also be there, along with a seatbelt rig so you can get experience of the importance of wearing a seatbelt in a low speed impact.
