Queen Mother visits Inverness in 1953

QUEEN Elizabeth the Queen Mother paid a visit to Inverness on August 6, 1953, to receive the Freedom of the Burgh.

"In the afternoon she attended the ceremony at which Freedom was conferred upon the Town and County Regiment, the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders, and before taking the salute at the Exchange at their March Past, she opened the Regiment's War Memorial Boy's Club."
