A fallen tree has disrupted a school bus service in Inverness with pupils on the route sent home.

A number of youngsters were on board the 07:24 Stagecoach 111 Gollanfield service bound for Culloden Academy from Ardersier when the driver found the B9092 road blocked.

The bus became stuck as it was unable to turn on the narrow stretch of road.

The service has now been suspended and, with no replacement service, the school issued instruction to pupils waiting at stops further along the route to return home.

A Culloden Academy statement on social media read: “Pupils already on the bus will have to remain on it until the road is cleared, and the bus will then come to school.

“The police are in attendance, but we do not know how long it will be until the road is cleared. Unfortunately the bus is unable to turn around.”

A Stagecoach spokesman said: “Due to the B9092 been closed due to a fallen tree, our school service 111 for Culloden Academy is currently stuck.

“Once the road reopens the driver will complete the school service with a delay.”
