PUPILS from Culloden Academy have set off for Tanzania carrying goodies provided by the women of the Inner Wheel Club of Inverness.

The Inner Wheel members knitted nine blankets, seven patchwork quilts, 58 jumpers and 38 teddies, which the 24 fifth and sixth year pupils took with them to give to disadvantaged people in the African country.

The youngsters will be working with the Vine Trust, an international charity which sees volunteers provide medical, home-building and care support to communities living in severe poverty in Tanzania.

The Culloden pupils will be helping build houses during their stay and will also visit local orphanages where some of the items will be distributed.
