The public toilets at Nairn harbour could be reopened to the public by the beginning of August.

Nairn councillor Tom Heggie said Highland Council is also looking at provision of a waste water facility at the toilets for mobile home users.

The toilets were closed in 2018 because the council said it could not afford their upkeep.

But following complaints from the public – including reports about a rat infestation – and pressure from community councils, it has agreed to reopen them, with the Nairn Common Good Fund footing the bill.

Cllr Heggie said as well as upgrading the toilets they have to look at the ongoing maintenance of the facility.
