PEOPLE who participated in the consultation events on the eight Inverness bypass options have been thanked by Highland Council.

More than 350 people attended Kinmylies Church and Culduthel Christian Centre last week for exhibitions of the possible routes to link Dores Road to the A82.

Almost 200 people went to evening meetings where council officials outlined details of the project at Inverness Leisure and Inverness Royal Academy.

Councillor John Laing, chairman of the local authority’s transport committee, chaired both evening meetings and thanked the public for taking such a keen interest in the proposals and for their comments.

The public consultation ends on 16th January next year.

A 15-councillor group will assess the feedback and present its recommendations to full council, which is expected to finalise a route before the next local elections in May 2012.
