Plans for around 150 new homes in Inverness have moved to the next stage of the planning application process following a meeting at Highland Council today.

Members of the south planning committee had no comments for Highland Council’s bid to build housing on land previously used for Torvean Golf Course on General Booth Road.

The next stage is likely to see a full application made complete with designs and additional information about objections or support for the project from stakeholders like community councils.

There are two drop-in public events where people can have their say on the plans, the first is at Charleston Community Complex from 5pm-8pm on June 30 and the second is at Kings Golf Club from 1pm-5pm on July 17.

The layout of the course was changed when the West Link Road – connecting the A82 and Dores roundabout – was built and it was subsequently renamed Kings Golf Club.

There has been other housing, sports facilities and parkland developed in tandem with development of the road – the first phase of which opened in December 2017.

Last month, a pre-application notice was lodged for "proposed residential development of circa 150 units including associated infrastructure, roads and drainage".

The council's area planning manager (south) Elaine Watt stated: "It is recommended the committee notes the submission of the proposal of application notice and advises of any material issues it wishes to be brought to the applicant’s attention."
