An Inverness-based charity supporting people suffering from sight impairment has raised more than £4500.

Charity Sight Action Highland and Western Isles held its Christmas raffle prize draw earlier this month, managing to raise an incredible £4,598, with an additional £43 raised from a lucky dip.

The draw was held at the charity’s headquarters at Beachwood House near Raigmore Hospital, with a variety of drinks, hampers and accessories donated for the fundraiser.

Service users Mairi Hill and Catriona Menzies, who attended with her guide dog Yoko, were in charge of drawing the raffle tickets.

Ms Menzies was also the winner of a lucky dip and took home a bottle of Glenfiddich 15.

On facebook, the charity posted: “Sight Action would like to thank each and every person who bought tickets, sent in donations and kind words. Once again the support shown has been remarkable.”

The money raised will be used to support Sight Action’s dedicated volunteer service and transport requirements for their clients.
