Prime Minister Boris Johnson has left intensive care after three days but remains in hospital, according to Downing Street.

Mr Johnson has been receiving treatment for coronavirus at St Thomas' Hospital in London since Sunday.

But on Monday his condition worsened and on the advice of his medical team he was placed in the intensive care unit.

A Downing Street spokesman said: "The Prime Minister has been moved this evening from intensive care back to the ward, where he will receive close monitoring during the early phase of his recovery. He is in extremely good spirits."

Foreign Minister and First Secretary of State Dominic Raab had been deputising for Mr Johnson since Monday.
