Pasquill Inverness site operations manager Emma Chesney has been recognised as service leaver of the year.

She was awarded at the Scottish Ex-Forces in Business Awards thanks to her success in her post-RAF career.

Ms Chesney, who was one of 14 winners announced from more than 250 nominees, joined the RAF at 18 years old and worked as a logistics specialist for eight years, being deployed to operations across the world.

During her career in the armed forces she was based at RAF Stafford, RAF Leuchars and RAF Lossiemouth.

Following a medical discharge, she joined the manufacturer and supplier of roof trusses, Pasquill, working as a scheduler, before quickly progressing to production manager.

She said: “I’m incredibly humbled to have received this award. I never wanted a normal job – I wanted to do something that would push me and challenge me, and I feel like I still have that at Pasquill.

“They have a brilliant ability to develop talent and promote within – an ethos that’s led me to become their first production and operations manager and helped me gain academic success I could never have dreamed of.

“The transition has been a big change, but it’s great to still be learning and building on the skills I learned in the RAF, like teamwork and good communication – which all ultimately help me deliver fantastic results to clients.”

The awards celebrate the achievements of ex-military personnel who are now excelling in civilian life, while acknowledging employers who support their transition.
