Power has been restored to a swathe of Inverness city centre hit by a black-out this morning.

Businesses and homes on the east side of the River Ness between Bank Street and Church Street, and stretching from Friar’s Lane to Bridge Street, were affected by the power cut.

SSE says the unplanned outage began at 9.51 am, with power restored by 10.45 am.

A second area of the city, along Telford Street, Telford Gardens, Dunain Road and along to the Caledonian Canal, was hit by a power cut at around 6am with power set to be restored by 12 noon.

Parts of North Kessock and north towards Kilmuir have also been affected.

An SSE spokesman said: “We’re sorry for the loss of supply.

“We currently have a fault and our engineers are on site working to get the power back on as quickly as possible.”
