Hundreds of homes in Nairn were hit by a power cut on Sunday afternoon.

Engineers were reported to be "en route" at the time of writing (3.10pm), following the outage at 2.51pm, according to Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks.

Its Powertrack map is showing an outage across a wide swathe of the town, with hundreds of properties without power across nearly 50 postcodes.

Most of the properties affected appear to be in the north and west of the town, according to Powertrack.

"We're sorry for the loss of supply," said a spokesperson for SSEN. "We currently have a fault. Our engineers are working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can.

"It you need more information, please call us on 105 or send us a message on Facebook or Twitter (@ssencommunity) and quote reference 'NC5807'."

At the time of writing, SSEN was predicting that power would be restored by 6pm, although this may be subject to change.
