A power cut has hit 27 homes in an Inverness neighbourhood.

The unplanned electricity outage in the city’s Ballifeary district was reported just after 5pm today, with energy giant SSEN saying engineers have been alerted.

As things stand, there is no estimated time for resolving the issue.

An SSEN spokesman said it was suspected a fault in the underground system was to blame.
