A power cut has hit 18 homes near Inverness city centre.

The electricity failure has affected a swathe of properties along Island Bank Road and smaller connecting streets between Bellfield Park and the junction with Drummond Crescent.

Power company SSEN says the power cut began at 3.30 am with engineers on the scene and working to resolve the issue since 4.30 am.
