A new edition poster is to be produced containing information on sources of free food and emergency help in the Inverness area.
It is being organised by the Rotary Club of Inverness Riverside which also brought together a range of charitable services and organisations in the area at an autumn gathering.
The poster, sponsored by solicitors Macleod and MacCallum, will be distributed this month and will be an expanded version of one it produced in March.
The posters will be displayed at places such as charity offices, churches, GP surgeries, schools and community centres.
Fiona MacAllister, a team member of the Rotary Club of Inverness Riverside, was delighted by the turnout at the networking event which was held at the Culduthel Christian Centre.
She explained the rotary club had been approached for help by someone in need, and through this, and helping out at a charity realised there was a need for finding sources of local help and food.
“Hence the gathering of charities event and posters was born, as a way for these professionals to network together,” she said.
“Often they are helping the same clients.
“After meeting each other at the gathering, they can refer their clients to other specialists they met.”
Speakers were Mike Youatt, of Inverness, Badenoch and Strathspey Citizens Advice Bureau, Ann Dowd of Inverness Job Centre and Susan Webster, of Highland Council’s welfare team.
Club president Steve Rowan welcomed guests who introduced themselves and briefly outlined the work of their organisations.
“Everyone in attendance is a professional in their field, and every day they come across local people and families in desperate times of need,” Ms MacAllister said.
“We felt the three speakers really pitched at their professional audience, and hopefully their messages will filter down directly to end users.”
