The Port of Nigg is opening its doors next month for a family-friendly open day, where visitors will be able to get a glimpse into the future of energy production.

Hosted by the operator of the port, Global Energy Group, the free event on Saturday, June 24, will be an opportunity to learn about the area’s maritime history and to experience the hustle and bustle of one of Scotland’s leading energy ports.

Past, present and future will come together in a series of guided bus tours around the port, revealing the port’s roots and the work taking place today to support a thriving renewables industry.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy a family fun day featuring delicious local food and drink, competitions, and children’s activities.

Global Energy Group chairman, Roy MacGregor, said: “We’re excited to throw open the gates at Port of Nigg and welcome the public in to learn more about what we do. Port of Nigg has an amazing history, so we’re delighted to share its story while also bringing it right up to date with the offshore wind projects that are taking place off our shores.

“From our oil and gas roots, we’re fully embracing the move to renewables and are excited to share that journey with the community around us. Visitors will get to speak to the people who actually work at the port, and gain first hand knowledge of what goes on every day.

“This is a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with the port and find out what makes it tick. We’re expecting tickets to be snapped up quickly, so get in early and don’t miss out!”

Attendance is free but tickets are required due to expected high demand. To register to attend, visit here.
