A BUSY port has appointed a new specialist to keep an eye on its environment.

As environmental adviser for the Port of Cromarty Firth, Andrew Goldie will be responsible for all of the environmental aspects involved in its activities, including safeguarding the waters and protected sites and wildlife within the firth.

In addition to working with port users to reduce environmental risks and ensure all environmental legal requirements are being met, he will also identify areas for environmental improvement.

Mr Goldie said: “By looking at all the port’s activities, I can review what the environmental impacts are likely to be. While working with other colleagues, we can jointly help to safeguard the Cromarty estuary and Invergordon itself.

“Such improvements will hopefully result in a more efficient company which can better serve its customers and protect our environment.”
