A RENOWNED Nairn restaurant scooped a top national award at a ceremony earlier this week.

The Sun Dancer was named as Scottish Restaurant of the Year at the Scottish Restaurant Awards 2023 on Monday.

The restaurant specialises in seafood and has already been recognised for its creative dishes and stunning location in precious years – and was named best in Scotland at the Scotland’s Business Awards 2021.

Restaurant owner Lee Jack commented on social media: "Thank you all for your loving words and congratulations. Honestly we weren't expecting it and I couldn't do it with the loving support of my team and you lovely people.

"I've been working at this hard for many years and I'm grateful for everyone who has helped me along the way.

"This is a team award and I have had the best team around me some come and gone and those who have stayed. Thank you all.

"For you lovely people we are working on a new and improved offering to benefit you all and hope we can still provide the best service and quality that we strive to do."

They were up against contenders from all across Scotland, among which the Amber Restaurant in Edinburgh, Brea in Stirling and Cail Bruich in Glasgow.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Restaurant Awards said: “These Awards serve as a platform to highlight the outstanding contributions of restaurants and individuals who play a vital role in shaping Scotland's vibrant food scene. By acknowledging their achievements, we aim to inspire continued innovation, collaboration, and growth within the industry.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and finalists of the second Scottish Restaurant Awards 2023. Their commitment to excellence has undoubtedly raised the bar for the Scottish culinary landscape.”
