A popular confectionary shop in Inverness is up for sale.

The owners of Youngs Auld Sweetie Shop - who also have a location in Aviemore - have decided it’s time to retire so have now put both locations on the market.

Both shops are positioned centrally, in the city of Inverness and town of Aviemore respectively. Both benefit from a high level of tourist trade as well as a well-established, loyal local following.

Owner, Susan Young described the business: “Young’s Auld Sweetie Shop in Church Street is a wonderful mixture of Willy Wonka meets Harry Potter – magical. It’s a business based on memories, creating new ones for the young and reliving them for the more mature.

“It’s a happy shop, full of smiles when people come in, a warm welcome from staff and space to browse. We have a large stock and supply all the old favourites – soor plooms, rhubarb and custard, pear drops, Coulter’s candy to name just a few.

“We have a pick and mix with over 130 different varieties, handmade chocolate and fudge, and a large selection of Dutch liquorice as well as diabetic, gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan sweets.”

The business has a solid year-round trade with peak trading in the holiday season from March to October when it benefits from the huge influx of tourists to the area.

Aviemore benefits from ongoing tourist trade throughout the year. During the winter months, the Inverness business enjoys a strong local following which bolsters the lower level of tourist related turnover - naturally, Christmas purchasing significantly boosts income in December in both locations.

The Aviemore business has traded successfully since 2013 when the business was opened by the current owners and latterly the Inverness shop was opened in 2019 where business continues to flourish. Currently the business is run day to day by an experienced and loyal manager and team. Opening hours are Monday – Sunday, 10 am – 5.30 pm each day.

The business is listed with ASG Property for £237,500.
