40 varieties of seed potatoes to be on sale at Black Isle Tattie Day

The popular Black Isle Tattie Day will be back at North Kessock Village Hall on Saturday March 2.
More than than 40 varieties of seed potatoes will be available along with onion sets while the event also includes a seed sale and swap, growing advice and competitions.
It is run by environmental campaign group, Transition Black Isle, which will also provide information and a cafe selling soup, cakes and tea and coffee.
Transition Black Isle has been raising awareness of how far some food on our plates travels.
It is encouraging people to cut carbon emissions by growing their own potatoes and other vegetables.
The group is also having a seed swap stall where people can bring along seeds they have saved from their gardens or packets or part packets which they do not need, or simply give a donation for seeds someone else has brought.
The event will take place from 11am to 3pm.
Seed potatoes will be on sale at 20p per tuber with people asked to count as they collect and declare the total number at the pay desk.
People need to bring their own bags and payment is by cash only.
Laura Donnelly of the Highland Community Waste Partnership will also provide information about the HCWP project and raising awareness of the urgent need to reduce food and other kinds of waste.
Potatoes will be available at subsequent community markets in Cromarty (Saturday March 9), Culbokie (Saturday March 16) and North Kessock (Saturday March 30).
Incredible Edible Inverness will hold its first Potato Morning on Saturday March 9 from 10am to noon at Green Drive Hall.
