POLICE are aware of a planned “car cruise” event due to be held at Inverness Shopping Park on Saturday evening.

Officers anticipate a number of people will be in the area with their vehicles and warn that some congestion in the area is possible.

A police spokesman said: “There will be a visible police presence in the area on the evening to offer reassurance to the public and to enforce traffic legislation if required.

“Anyone planning to attend the event is asked to make sure their vehicle is roadworthy, not to drive under the influence to alcohol or drugs, to watch their speed and avoid distractions such as mobile phones while driving.

“Anyone found to be breaking the law will be dealt with robustly and could have their vehicle seized.”
