Police were called to a house in Smithton to remove a woman from the property.

But Inverness Sheriff Court was told that when officers arrived at Smithton Villas, Julie Grant (49) shouted and swore at them.

Fiscal depute Ruraidh Allison said: “She shouted things like I will kill yous. She was handcuffed but began kicking, making contact with the shin of one and the hip of another. She continued with this conduct as the officers tried to get her in the police van.”

Defence solicitor John MacColl said his client, who admitted threatening behaviour and police assault said: “She does not remember a thing.”

Grant, of Dunain Road, was fined £220 and ordered to pay £200 into a fund set up recently to support police victims of assault.
