Police in Nairn are searching for a missing 53-year-old man.

Derek Hepburn, who is from the Nairn area, has not been in contact with his family since Sunday which is very out of character and concern is growing for his welfare.

Police Scotland is now appealing for the public’s help to trace him.

He is described as 6ft 1ins tall, with a slim build, black hair which is balding, normally clean shaven or with light stubble. His current clothing is unknown.

A spokesman said: "Derek is believed to be driving a red Dacia Sandero, registration number SY64FZN.

"Derek is a keen hill walker and is believed to have travelled from his home address on the morning of Sunday, April 24, to go hill walking. Although unconfirmed at this time Derek may have travelled to Moy or surrounding area to complete a walk."

• Anyone who thinks they may have seen him or his vehicle since the weekend or has any information that could help police, is asked to call 101, quoting reference 1812 of 27/04/2022.
