Police officers are set to hold an awareness event at Charleston Academy in Inverness today (Wed).

Officers will be in attendance at the secondary school to host a policing roadshow with the wider school community.

The event will see local policing officers and colleagues from specialist units visit the school to speak to pupils about the work of the service.

Police resources who will attend include those from community policing, the divisional Alcohol and Violence Reduction Unit, youth offending, missing persons, child exploitation, harm prevention and preventions and interventions.

Constable Keith Whitelaw, education link officer in Inverness, said: “We are very pleased to continue to work in partnership with the Highland Council and Charleston Academy to engage positively with the school community.

“This event gives a good opportunity to share more about the work of the police, offer crime prevention advice and engage with the young people at the school.”

Andrew Brown, head teacher at Charleston Academy said: “Charleston Academy welcomes the ongoing collaboration with Police Scotland.

"The opportunity for our young people to engage positively with Police Scotland officers and other partner agencies directly is of huge value.”
