Police pursued a driver for almost 20 miles at high speeds despite him bursting a tyre during the chase.
Jake Macdonald (24) of Fearn, Tain, travelled at speeds of up to 116mph between Arpafeelie near North Kessock and Maryburgh and back to Belladrum Estate outside Beauly on August 21, 2020.
He did not appear personally at Inverness Sheriff Court last week but solicitor David Patterson tendered a guilty plea to dangerous driving on his behalf.
The charge states that he drove at 116mph in a 70mph zone on the A9, 80mph in a 60mph area, 55pmh when the limit was 30mph, and repeatedly encroached on to the opposing carriageways.
Macdonald also repeatedly drove round bends on the wrong side of the road and collided with a kerb. Though this caused a tyre to deflate he continued to drive at 80mph.
Sheriff Eric Brown did not require fiscal depute Naomi Duffy-Welsh to relate the full facts and deferred sentence until June 23 for a background report and restriction of liberty order assessment.
