Police concern over Culloden assault on woman on New Year's Day?

Police have issued a Can You Help? appeal after a man was seen hitting a woman on the face on the morning of New Year's Day in Culloden village.

But despite immediate and extensive inquiries, neither the alleged attacker or victim could be traced by police.

Police said today (Tuesday January 2, 2024): "Our primary concern is for the safety of the lady."

It was about11am on Monday January 1 near the Spar shop on Barn Church Road, Culloden, that the man was seen to assault the woman by hitting her on the face.

He is described as about 5ft 9in, wearing a grey vest top and blue jeans with mousey brown hair.

She is described as about 5ft 6in tall, wearing a grey vest and shorts with brown hair in a ponytail.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We attended immediately and conducted extensive patrols and inquiries in the area but could not trace either party.

"If you were driving past at this time and may have seen something - or have a dashcam and caught the incident, we urge you to get in touch on 101, quoting incident number PS-20240101-2149.

"Our primary concern is for the safety of the lady."
