30 Highland drink and drug drivers snared in first 14 days of Police Scotland Christmas clampdown

A festive drink and drug driving clampdown by Highland police has led to 30 arrests in the first fortnight of December.
Road safety patrols and static checks carried out by officers led to the arrest of eight drink drivers and 22 drug drivers since the start of the month, Police Scotland says.
Reports will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Inspector Donnie Mackinnon from the Highland and Islands road policing unit said: “These detections demonstrate our ongoing commitment to road safety.
“I can assure the public that we will continue to take robust enforcement action against those who make poor decisions, take risks and put themselves and others in danger, like these 30 drivers who have been caught this month alone.
“Driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs increases the likelihood of being involved in a collision, the consequences of which can be catastrophic.
“If you are caught and convicted, you will be fined and lose your licence, which will also affect your employment status, financial situation and personal circumstances, so please don’t take that chance."
