Police have issued an appeal for witnesses as a cyclist remains in a critical condition following an incident in an Inverness neighbourhood.

The 54-year-old man was found seriously injured in Leachkin Road yesterday afternoon.

A motorist came to the aid of the man who was seen lying in the road near to Lawers Way and Highfield Avenue about 2.30pm.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness initially but has since been transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where medical staff describe his condition as critical.

Sergeant Douglas Scott, of the Road Policing Unit in Inverness, said: "This is quite a busy road and so I am appealing to anyone who was in the area between 2.20pm and 2.30pm or saw the man come off his bike to come forward."

Information, including dashcam footage, that may help police with their inquiries, can be passed to police via 101. Please quote incident number 1956 of Sunday, 28 January 2024 when calling.
