Police investigate multiple thefts from vehicles

Anyone with information on the weekend thefts can contact police on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers service on 0800 555111.

“Don’t give thieves the opportunity they’re looking for - remember to secure your vehicle at all times.”

“It’s worth security marking all valuable items with your postcode and house name/number in the unfortunate event it is removed from your vehicle or home.

“Always remove valuables such as sat-navs, money and personal paper work from the vehicle and leave the glove box empty and open.

Inspector Alex Chisholm said: “Taking the simple step of ensuring your vehicle is locked when left unattended will drastically reduce the likelihood of becoming the victim of theft.

Earlier this month, in connection with similar thefts in the Kirkhill and North Kessock areas, police issued a warning to drivers to make sure their vehicles are properly secured at all times.

The thefts are believed to have taken place over Sunday night into Monday morning and items taken include iPads and other computer equipment as well as cash and wallets.

POLICE are investigating after six reports of thefts from unlocked vehicles in the Castle Heather area of Inverness at the weekend.
