Police inquiries continue after unknown substance thrown at two women in Inverness

Police are continuing their inquiries following a report of two women being attacked with an unknown substance.

Police are continuing their inquiries after being called to a report of two women having an unknown substance thrown at them in an Inverness street.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said officers were called to Grant Street in Merkinch about 12.15am today.

"The women, aged 36 and 40, were checked at the scene by paramedics and there are no reported injuries," the spokesperson said.

"A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection and released pending further inquiries.

"Inquiries remain ongoing."
