Police in Inverness are investigating a fire which damaged a house in Teanassie in Whitebridge.

The alarm was raised at 3.30pm on Monday and the blaze was extinguished by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. No-one was injured as a result and officers are treating the fire as unexplained.

Officers from the Highland and Islands Police Division are appealing for information following the incident.

Detective Sergeant Graeme Johnstone, of CID in Inverness, said: “We are trying to establish the cause of the fire, which we are treating as unexplained.

"The fire caused extensive damage to the property with the roof and first floor having collapsed. Thankfully no-one was hurt and officers remain at the scene.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area around 3pm on Monday to come forward, you may have witnessed something that could assist our enquiries."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting 2482 of August 23.
