Police appealed for information after the car hit a pet dog in Inverness.

Police in Inverness are hunting a hit and run driver who drove off the road and struck a dog.

Ruby the Jack Russell was hurt and her owner left shaken after a red car mounted a pavement on the city’s Thornbush Road.

The family pet was left injured but is said to be “recovering well” after the incident on Friday, March 1 at about 2.45 pm.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We are appealing to anybody who may have been on Thornbush Road, Inverness about 2:45pm on Friday 01 March 2024.

“Ruby, a Jack Russell dog, was hit by a red car which mounted the kerb. Ruby and her owner were assisted by a kind member of the public who took them to the vets.

“If you were in the area and saw this happen or have a dashcam fitted – please get in touch quoting incident 2789 of 01/03/2024.

“Ruby is now recovering well at home.”
