POLICE are following "a positive line of enquiry" in relation to a body found a week ago at a Highland beauty spot.

Police had earlier issued an appeal to the general public for help identifying the man whose body was discovered in water at Lochan Na Craoibhe, Glencoe last Wednesday.

They said in an update today that officers are continuing investigations to identify the man and "are now following a positive line of enquiry".

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.

Detective Inspector Andy Bilton said: "We have had a good response to our appeal and we are grateful to everyone who has been in touch, and have been keen to help us identify the man.

"Our investigation remains ongoing and officers are following a positive line of enquiry.

"I would like to thank the public for their response to the initial appeal.”

That appeal described as him as a white male, aged between 40-60, with dark hair.

When he was found, he was wearing a Regatta blue lightweight waterproof jacket, size extra large, a Pep&Co purple/mauve t-shirt with a graphic of palm trees, size XXL and black Gelert walking boots, size 10.

A post mortem examination will be carried out to establish the exact cause of death and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
