Inverness Sheriff Court heard Lee Sayers appeared nervous when police stopped his Ford Focus.

Police stopped a motorist for a routine check and it led to the recovery of around £4300 worth of cocaine which he was dealing from his home and another property in the Merkinch area of Inverness.

At Inverness Sheriff Court, 26-year-old Lee Sayers, of Drumossie Road, Inverness admitted dealing cocaine in the Highland capital and was sentenced to 225 hours of unpaid community work.

Sayers had previously pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of the Class A narcotic from his home and another property in Benula Road, Inverness on March 7 last year. Sentence had been deferred for a background report.

Sheriff Gary Aitken was told by Sayers' lawyer, Natalie Paterson, that her client had since moved away from dealing drugs and was buying and selling goods on a popular website.

The sheriff told Sayers: "It is only your age and your lack of record which prevents me from imposing a custodial sentence of several years. But if there is any further drug dealing, you will find yourself in jail."

Fiscal depute Grant McLennan told the court that Sayers had appeared nervous when police stopped his Ford Focus in the Merkinch area.

They carried out a drugs search and found cocaine worth a maximum £2300 in several bags in his car. A quantity of cash was also recovered.

Mr McLennan added that police found more drugs with a street value of £2000 and cash at Sayers' home.
