AN Inverness man has admitted being concerned in the supply of herbal cannabis with a potential street value of nearly £12,000.

Anthony Connor told police he recovered the stash from woodland near his home having seen an unidentified male exiting a Volkswagen Golf and stashing it in the woods.

Connor (27) admitted being concerned in the supply of the drug at his home in Lerwick Crescent between February 14 and March 6 last year.

Depute fiscal Alex Swain told Sheriff Margaret Neilson that police, acting on information, executed a search warrant at Connor’s home on February 14.

They recovered £1595 in cash, clingfilm, poly bags, and a vacuum pack containing herbal cannabis.

Connor later confirmed he was unemployed and on benefits during 2017.

He said the cash, which was found in separate packages, were proceeds of a motorcycle sale and the balance (£700) belonged to his wife.

Regarding the vacuum pack containing the cannabis he stated during the fortnight previous he observed a VW Golf type vehicle acting suspiciously within the woodland near his home.

“He went on to describe an unidentified male person existing the car and stashing some object. He described thereafter retrieving the object which turned out to be a large amount of herbal cannabis.”

The fiscal said he described smoking some of it and supplying it to his wife.

In total, 706.2g were recovered. Police estimated its value to be between £3000 and £11,750.

Sentence was deferred until January 16 for background reports.
