A 42-year-old Inverness woman who was concerned in the supply of drugs for the second time was jailed for a year.

Carol McCrone appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court and pleaded guilty to the drugs offences involving cocaine, cannabis and ecstasy on the A9 and at a house in Temple Crescent, Inverness on August 24, 2021.

The court was told that police stopped a vehicle on Findhorn Bridge on August 24, 2021 and McCrone was driving.

Officers smelt cannabis from the vehicle and searched it.

They found two bags, one of which was wrapped in Christmas paper. They contained 184.4 grams of cocaine and 292 grams of herbal cannabis.

Sheriff Gary Aitken heard that a search of her home the following day revealed another 295.1 grams of herbal cannabis, 104.7 grams of cannabis, 32 grams of cocaine and 405 ecstasy tablets.

The total street value of the drugs were £40,265.

Defence solicitor advocate Clare Russell told Sheriff Aitken that her client "is under no illusion that custody may follow".

"She accrued a drug debt which she required to pay back and it was a one off," she said.

"She was not aware of the value of the drugs which was high and has now distanced herself from that lifestyle."

Jailing her, Sheriff Aitken told McCrone: "It is difficult to understand how you got yourself into this situation having got yourself into a similar situation before."
