POLICE went to Millburn Academy in Inverness on Monday after receiving information claiming there was a disturbance involving pupils and the possible possession of a knife.

However, no trouble was seen by officers, and no weapons were found, Police Scotland have confirmed.

A police spokeswoman said: "There were a couple of reports of fights at the school but when officers got there nothing was happening and no knives were found."

When asked if there had been trouble at the 1200-pupil school, a spokesman for the education authority, Highland Council, said: "We can confirm that Police Scotland were called to Millburn Academy, Inverness, following reports of a disturbance and the alleged possession of a weapon.

"Police attended and later confirmed no weapon was found and there was no disturbance.”
