Police motor-cyclists detected the smell of cannabis as they passed a lay-by near the Dundreggan Estate on Loch Ness-side.

But officers didn't see anyone and carried on their journey on April 14, 2021.

However when they approached a vehicle up ahead, they again could smell the drug and stopped it.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that 51 year old Fort William slater Thomas Morrison of Angus Crescent was at the wheel as he returned home from work on the Isle of Skye.

He tested positive for cannabis and a later test revealed a reading of 9mcgs of the drug in his system. The safe driving limit is 2mcgs.

Morrison admitted drug driving and was fined £420. He was also banned from driving for a year.
