UPDATE: Missing Inverness girls found safe and well, police confirm

POLICE have found two Inverness girls who were reported missing this week.

Leah Petrie and Rachel Donnelly, who are both 13, were reported missing within hours of each other and were thought to have been in each other's company, officers said earlier today.

Leah went missing from the Merkinch area in the early hours of Monday.

Rachel, who is also from the Merkinch area, was reported missing earlier today.

"We can confirm that missing teenagers Leah Petrie and Rachel Donnelly have been traced safe and well in the local area," said a police spokesman a short time ago.

"Members of the public and the media are thanked for their assistance in this matter."
