Police in the Highlands appeal for witnesses after an Inverness man was assaulted on Grant Street, Merkinch yesterday morning, Wednesday, around 8.55am

Police in the Highlands have appealed for witnesses after a man was assaulted in daylight in Inverness.

The incident took place before 8.55am on Wednesday December 29 and police were called to the scene.

A police spokesman said: "Police were called around 8.55am on Wednesday, 29 December, 2021 following the report of an assault on a man on Grant Street, Inverness.

"There were no life threatening injuries and enquiries are ongoing into the incident."

He continued: "Anyone with information in relation to the incident is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 0579 of 29/12/21."
