Police detectives are appealing for information after a man received serious injuries during an assault in Inverness.

The incident happened in Gilbert Street in Merkinch on Thursday January 11 between 5pm and 5.30pm.

The man was walking from the direction of Upper Kessock Street and on reaching Gilbert Street, he was assaulted by three unknown men.

A spokesperson for Inverness CID said: "Our enquiries are ongoing whereby we are gathering and studying CCTV from in and around the local area to assist us in establishing more information on the crime.

"Similarly, if you were driving around the area and have a dashcam, we would ask you to please check it."
