Officers are appealing for information after a collision involving a pedestrian and an HGV on the A96 near Inverness.

The incident happened a short distance west of the junction with Barn Church Road at Balloch shortly after 5.35am this morning.

The 31-year-old male pedestrian was taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment and medical staff have confirmed his injuries are not considered life threatening.

The road was reopened shortly after 9.10am.

Sergeant Neil Macdonald of the Highland and Islands Road Policing Unit said: “We are working to establish the full circumstances of this collision and would urge anyone who has any information to get in touch.

“We would be particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the road around the time of the incident.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 0409 of 14 February, 2023.”
